Remembering

I sit down to write this on September 11th. It’s a date that stands out in many people’s memories. Where were you on September the 11th, 2001? I was near Ottawa, taking part in training for NET Canada. Several of my teammates were American, and one of the Canadians had a friend who worked a block from the Twin Towers. They were huddled around the only TV, trying to find out – and make sense of –what was happening. There was tension in the air, some fear, some sadness, and a lot of confusion. It was a memorable day.

Don't Kill Bugs #prolife

I’ve always loved Bob & Doug McKenzie, though I wouldn’t typically call them inspirational. I mean, they’re probably best known for their version of the Twelve Days of Christmas, and they can’t get past day 8.

But here and there they have nuggets of wisdom. Please help me welcome… Elron McKenzie! <insert applause here>

It's so simple

It’s Lent, the time when we give something up, a season for fasting. I remember the year my parents decided we were giving up TV for Lent. That felt like the longest Lent ever.

My Pens

Over the last couple years I’ve been enjoying pens. It started with comparing various inexpensive disposable pens to see which was more reliable (go Bic Round Stick!). Then I picked up a few rollerball and gel pens. They’re so smooth, my beloved Zebra Sarasa never smears, and I adore the vibrant red of my Uniball Signo 207. It’s a thing of beauty.

Thursday, December 20th: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Tea Time

I’ve recently started trying to schedule Tea Time into my week, just spending time with my wife and kids, drinking tea and maybe eating a little snack.

The challenge is, it seems like such an utter waste of time. But on the other hand, the exact reason I want to do it is because it is such a waste of time.

It's All Garbage!

What do you fill yourself with?

I adore chocolate. Massive bowls of macaroni and cheese are amazing. Poutine is simply lovely. That being said, I know that I really should eat better. This just isn’t healthy, and as they say, “Garbage in, garbage out.”
